When I started the original B&C site in Miami back in the day (back when “BLOG” was just some crazy shit homeless dudes shouted at you on the street), one of the first outside mixes I propped was from NYC’s DJ Raeo, perennial champion of dense downtempo soundscapes and sexy seamless blends that are sure to get any guy laid when played at the right moment. Just happens when I came up to New York myself I ended up helping hold down his regular spot, Shebeen, with him and some other choice DJs for a little while, and got a chance to catch some of his weekly sets on the regular and help make the city a more musical place. Good times, people.
Point is, when I say this shit comes highly recommended, believe I’m not just talking shit. This week Raeo’s got a 56 track live recording from Shebeen, clocking in at nearly 3 hours of ill electronic, downtempo, 90s hip-hop, and shoegazer blends that may cause your head to literally float off your shoulders. And gave me a reason to walk into work the other day shouting, “BOOM SHAKA LAKA, yo here comes the Chief Rocka!” So click the link, check the extensive playlist, get listening.
